Mary Catherine “MC”: A Journey of Dedication to Equine Well-Being

Like many equestrians, Mary Catherine—known professionally as “MC”—once dreamed of becoming a jockey, and later, a jumper. However, the path her life took, shaped by her encounters with various horses, led her toward a different, full-time journey with them. MC's passion grew stronger after she learned more about how horses' bodies work. This new paradigm in her understanding shifted the way she saw things and made her more determined than ever. It was an important turning point in her life, guiding what she did next and how she felt about her journey as a equine body worker.

MC is recognized for her highly intuitive, empathetic, and compassionate nature. Nothing brings her more joy than helping horses transition from a state of tension, hollowness, or anxiety to one where they are relaxed, rounded, and moving with ease. Her dedication to the well-being of horses is evident in the way she approaches each session, focusing deeply on their comfort and emotional state.

MC’s interest in equine musculoskeletal health began twenty-six years ago, drawing upon her own experiences as an athlete. Having participated in numerous century rides, she is no stranger to the physical demands placed on the body. She has completed challenging treks, such as cycling from Sacramento to San Francisco in just six to seven hours. These demanding journeys taught her firsthand the importance of musculoskeletal attention for any body—human or equine—that serves as a vehicle for activity and sport.

MC’s athletic background naturally fueled her passion for becoming an Equine Body Worker, especially for equestrian athletes. She understands the unique needs of both horse and rider, bringing that insight to every session she conducts.

As an experienced handler and compassionate individual, MC places a strong emphasis on the well-being of horses, particularly those used for work. Her sessions are designed to ensure that each horse has a positive experience, feeling safe, comfortable, and cared for in strong, understanding hands.
